Five days, eleven hours a day and 3 000 kilometers later. Without refueling!

Lillestrom, Norway, November 11, 2007 - The Virage Simulation VS500M car simulator was used by AutoSim and Toyota to demonstrate a special eco-drive learning program at the Bil07 Auto Show in Lillestrom, Norway, November 7th to 11th. As participants drove the simulator over a planned route, their real time fuel consumption was presented graphically on the screen, and at the end of the route, their total fuel consumption was compared with that of the other participants.

”It was really fantastic to see how drivers, especially the young drivers from the “Play Station Generation”, were able to reduce their fuel consumption after they had been told how to drive economically”, said Martin Hansen, president of AutoSim.

“The simulator is an excellent tool to demonstrate and promote efficient driving”, says Remi Quimper, president of Virage Simulation. “The same route with the same traffic conditions can be repeated as many time as required for the driver to experience the impact of his/her driving style on fuel consumption.”

For five days, eleven hours per day, the driving simulator attracted a large, steady crowd who gathered to watch the participants learn eco-driving techniques. In total, the participants drove close to 3,000 kilometers without refueling. That is real performance!
