Virage Simulation Inc., a Canadian leader in car and truck driving simulator systems, services and turnkey-training solutions, delivered its first VS600M refuse truck driving simulator to the City of Calgary Waste and Recycling Services.
Being part of the City of Calgary’s Green Initiative, the refuse truck driving simulator will be used to train the city’s new drivers and improve existing drivers’ skills, accuracy and recycling collection efficiency. “Operating our vehicles safely and efficiently is our primary concern,” says Christy Lyon, manager of Waste & Recycling Collection Services at The City of Calgary. “We needed a tool to raise the level of proficiency and awareness of our drivers. With its ergonomics and realistic scenarios, Virage’s simulator is a valuable tool in our training program. ̈
The Virage Simulation VS600M refuse truck driving simulator includes actual vehicle manipulator controls and displays with an accurate simulation of the Labrie Side Loader and a complete refuse training program with real-time feedback to enhance the driver’s efficiency. “I was very impressed with the realism of the Side Loader dynamics” said Michel Collet, Technical Representative and Chief Instructor at Labrie. ’’Operating the simulator is just like the truck.
